Maciej Igelski has been working with the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera since 1990, designing lighting for major productions of operas and ballets, such as The Rite of Spring choreographed by K. Zaleski, La Bohème directed by Mariusz Treliński, Szymanowski’s ballet-pantomime Harnasie choreographed by Emil Wesołowski, W krainie czarodziejskiego fletu directed by Beata Redo-Dobber, Szymanowski’s pantomime Mandragora produced by Michał Znaniecki, In Search of Colours choreographed by Jacek Tyski, Persona choreographed by Robert Bondara, and Adagio & Scherzo choreographed by Krzysztof Pastor.
Maciej Igielski has also worked as guest collaborator for Opera Nova (Bydgoszcz), designing lighting for the ballets The Captive Mind choreographed by Robert Bondara and A Midsummer Night’s Dream choreographed by Karol Urbański, as well as the operas including Dvořak’s Rusalka directed by Kristina Wuss and Moniuszko’s Halka directed by Natalia Babińska. For the Kielce Dance Theatre, he developed lighting designs for Zdarzyło się w Jeruzalem choreographed by Elzbieta Szlufik-Pańtak and Grzegorz Pańtak. In 2013, he was engaged as a guest collaborator at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius, where he devised lighting for Giedrius Kuprevičius’ ballet Čiurlionis choreographed by Robert Bondara. He also accepts invitations from drama theatres in Warsaw, and has worked on Kocham O’Keeffe (after Lanie Robertson’s Alfred Stieglitz Loves O’Keeffe) directed by Krzysztof Kolberger (Bajka Theatre), Matematyka miłości (after Esther Vilar’s Mathematik der Liebe) directed by Alicja Albrecht (Teatr Studio Buffo) and Łysa śpiewaczka (after Eugène Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano) directed by Maciej Prus (National Theatre).
Other projects include Zbigniew Preisner’s concert 10 łatwych utworow na fortepian (1999), the jubilee concert Gniezno 2000, Polish pavilion at EXPO 2000 in Hannover, Dance Gala at the 10th Dance Festival in Kielce (2010), the exhibition Warszawa w budowie (WW B4) at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2012), and a large-scale staging of Faust by Beata Redo-Dobber (Wrocław).
