Darius Florian Catana
Darius Florian Catana was born in Pucioasa, Romania. In 2012, he started his ballet training in Bucharest at Floria Capsali Choreography High School. Having participated in the International Ballet Competition Youth America Grand Prix in Brussels (2013), he secured a scholarship to the Tanz Akademie Zürich, where he completed his ballet training under the guidance of Oliver Matz (2014-2020).
His achievements in ballet competitions include Bronze Medal in the International Dance Festival Tanzolymp (2019) in Berlin, Grand Prix in the European Ballet Grand Prix (2020) in Vienna, and Silver Medal in the Baltic Ballet Competition (2023) in Riga.
Darius Catana joined the Latvian National Ballet Company in 2020 and was promoted to ballet soloist in 2022. His repertoire includes roles such as Prince Albrecht in Giselle, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Colas in La fille mal gardée (chor. by Sir Frederick Ashton), Prince Nutcracker in The Nutcracker, among others.
