Countertenor Maayan Licht, Modestas Pitrėnas and the LCO
A sensational voice that transcends the limits of human possibility: acclaimed as the “modern-day Farinelli,” operatic superstar sopranist Maayan Licht is coming to Klaipėda. Joining conductor Modestas Pitrėnas and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the extraordinary vocalist is preparing a truly gourmet musical feast for local audiences.
Having burst onto the international scene only a few years ago, the sopranist is now regarded as one of opera’s most promising rising stars. In 2025, he received the prestigious OPER! Award as Best Newcomer of the Year, and his unique voice and remarkable stage presence have already earned acclaim from both audiences and critics on Europe’s leading stages.
With his bold rejection of stereotypes, distinctive artistic style, and magnetic charisma, Licht has become a global internet phenomenon. Across social media, he has built a community of more than one million followers, while his videos attract millions of views.
His voice astonishes with its extraordinary range, breathtaking coloratura, and virtuosity, enabling him to perform repertoire mastered by only a handful of soloists worldwide. Yet Licht is more than a classical musician. He combines opera with electronic music, creates interdisciplinary projects, performs in unconventional spaces, and has even appeared at Paris Fashion Week. Deeply connected to the essence of classical opera, he brings it to life on stage with the freedom, energy, and spirit of a contemporary artist.
Together with Modestas Pitrėnas and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Licht has prepared a special programme for audiences. On the stage of the Klaipėda State Music Theatre, listeners will hear opera arias by George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, Geminiano Giacomelli, and Georges Bizet, alongside Handel’s Concerto Grosso and symphonic works by Antonio Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn.
