Wiktoria Wizner

Wiktoria Gertruda Wizner was born in Koszalin (Poland) in 1992. She has been taught classical ballet since early childhood. Later she embarked on classical singing and drama studies at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, in the Faculty of Vocal Music and Drama, where studied under Prof. Małgorzata Grela and Beata Gramza, graduating in 2018 with a Master’s degree. She went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow (2019–2021), from which she obtained her second Master’s diploma. During the years of study, she has participated in several courses and workshops in vocal music and drama, among them are the Baroque Vocal Music Workshops with Paul Esswood in Poznan (2016) and the Vocal Music Course in Salerno (2016). In 2019, she spent a traineeship at Conservatorio Di Musica E.F. Dall’Abaco in Verona (Italy).

She made her operatic debut in 2015, as nurse Filipyevna in P. Tchaikovsky‘s opera Eugene Onegin at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. While studying at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music she sang in five more academy‘s productions, and for her graduation performance, she sang the part of Silva Varesku in Kálmán‘s Die Czardasfürstin and of Berta in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. While studying in Glasgow, she took part in the Conservatoire’s productions, appearing as Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L‘incoronazione di Poppea, Mrs Peachum in Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera, and Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare. After completing her studies, she stayed in the UK and created roles in various theatres, including the Older Lady in Jonathan Dove’s Flight and Mary in César Cui‘s A Feast in Time of Plague at Glasgow’s New Athenaeum, Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Aylesbury Opera), Johnny Humperdinck’s opera for children Hansel und Gretel and Alidoro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Opera Kipling Company productions at the Camden Fringe), and Carmen in G. Bizet’s opera of the same name (Arcadian Opera). In her home country she performed the role of Salija in the premiere of Krzysztof Dobosiewicz’s opera Salija (2019) at the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Katowice, later also with the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra in the concert version of the opera, and the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland with the Gorzów Wielkopolski Philharmonic Orchestra. She currently collaborates with the Opera Bałtycka in Gdansk, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the Philharmonic of Gorzów Wielkopolski, and appears in concerts with various Polish music groups.

Among her greatest achievements are victories at international vocal competitions and appearances with the Koszalin Philharmonic, the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, the Chamber Opera in Warsaw, and the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. She is the winner of many competitions including such as the “Citta di Barletta” International Chamber Music Competition (1st prize, 2015), the “Euro Talent” International Vocal Music Competition in Maiori (1st prize, 2016), the “Gold Talent in Gold Prague” International Vocal Music Competition (1st prize, 2014), the “Riga Symphony” International Vocal Music Competition (1st prize, 2014), “Golden Voices” International Vocal Competition at the Royal Castle in Warsaw (Special prize, 2017), Drezdenko International Vocal Competition (Special prize for best Polish song performance, 2017), Tony and Tanya Webster Award for Voice (2nd place, 2021), and “ArtSong OPUS” International Vocal Competition (1st degree honourable mention, 2021). In 2023, her outstanding artistic achievements have been recognised with the President of Koszalin Artistic Award.

Since the season 2024–2025 she has been soloist with the Klaipėda State Music Theatre in Lithuania. She made her house debut her with the role of Ježibaba in Dvořák‘s Rusalka, and later debuted as Busze and Singer in Eduardas Balsys‘ opera The Journey to Tilsit, Fruma-Sarah in Jerry Bock‘s Fiddler on the Roof, One-Eyed Old Woman in Bronius Kutavičius‘ opera The Bear and Executioner in Antanas Kučinskas‘ opera for children The Potato Tale.
