Yana Shliabanska
Yana Shliabanska (b. 1994 in Kyiv) is a Ukrainian composer and sound artist. She graduated in composition from the Ukrainian National Academy of Music, where she currently pursues doctoral studies conducting research on contemporary composition techniques. She is the author of chamber, orchestral music, interactive sound installations, music for theater and performances, and electroacoustic music, which has been performed in Ukraine, Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the USA. She is the winner of the scholarship of the Ukrainian President for young artists and received support from the French Institute for a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, 2022-2023. She is a co-founder and member of the electroacoustic duo GUMA.
In 2023, together with a creative team of Lithuanian and Ukrainian sound and dance artists she was awarded the highest Lithuanian theater award, Golden Stage Cross, for the sound and movement performance Insomnia in the category of Social Resonance Performance of the Year 2022.
