Beata Ignatavičiūtė
Beata Ignatavičiūtė (b. 1990 in Šiauliai, Lithuania) started studying classical singing at the Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatory, class of Valerija Balsytė, and pusued her studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Klaipėda University with Prof. Valentina Vadoklienė, from she obtained Bachelor’s (2013) and Master’s (2015) degrees.
She is a multiple winner of the Elzbieta Kardelienė Singing Competition: she has won Second Prize three times (2010, 2011, 2012) and the Rector’s Prize, and in 2013 she was announced First Prize winner. She went on to win second (2012) and third (2015) prizes at the International Mykolas Kleopas Oginskis Chamber Music Festival-Competition “Gems of Mykolas Kleopas Oginskis’ Work”. In 2013, she won second prize in the international competition “Music Without Borders”. Three times she became the recipient of the first prize in the international competition-forum “21st Century Art and Education” (2014, 2015, 2016).
Since 2013, she has been a soloist of the Klaipėda State Music Theatre. In the same year she made her remarkable debut with the role of Juliet in the dance performance based on Hector Berlioz’s dramatic symphony Romeo and Juliet (choreographer Jurijus Smoriginas, 1999). At the KSMT she has created many major roles in operas, operettas and musicals, the most important of which are the following: Safi (in Johann Strauss’s II operetta Der Zigeunerbaron), Krista (in Zigmars Liepińš’s musical drama The Needle), Jurga (in Vyacheslav Ganelin’s musical The Devil’s Bride), Elfie (in Kristijonas Lučinskas’ musical performance for children The Village of the Sloths), Spaghetti Queen (in Antanas Kučinskas’ opera for children Noodle Opera), Countess Zedlau (in Johann Strauss’s II operetta Der Wienerblut), Countess Fedora (in Kálmán’s operetta Mister X), Hodel (in Jerry Bock’s musical The Fiddler on the Roof), Serpina (in Pergolesi’s one-act comic opera La serva padrona), Miss Krumholtz (in Frank Loesser’s musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Sister Robert Anne (in Dan Goggin’s musical Nunsense), Blanche Barrow (in Frank Wildhorn’s musical Bonnie & Clyde), Velma Kelly (in John Kander’s musical Chicago), Nomeda (in Giedrius Kuprevičius’ opera Prussians), Paquette (in Leonard Bernstein’s operetta Candide), Žibutė (in Antanas Kučinskas’ opera for children The Star Opera), Donna Elvira (in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni), Eurydice (in Offenbach’s operetta Orphée aux enfers), the Foreign Princess (in Dvořák’s opera Rusalka), Mme Petisné (in the opera of stories Klaipėda), Adina (in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore). She also takes part in the concert programmes “Spanish Sarsuela” and “Long Live, Coffee!”.
In 2014, she was nominated for the Mask of Gratitude Award for the role of Krista in musical drama The Needle. In 2019, she was nominated for the Klaipėda State Music Theatre award “Catch the Wave” (Soloist of the Year nomination). In the annual KSMT Awards she was twice announced the winner of the Audience Choice Award for the role of Velma Kelly in the revival of John Kander’s musical Chicago (2023) and for the roles in the theatre’s regular season (2024).
